L'avis de Gault&Millau
As this year, due to the lockdown, we couldn’t unfortunately visit the restaurant Agava, we publish the review and the score by Gault&Millau Croatia 2020.
It is one of the better restaurants in the centre of Zagreb, thanks to Chef Belizar Miloš, professional staff and pleasant ambience. From the restaurant located in the picturesque Tkalčićeva Street you can enjoy the view of the street and the cathedral towers. The well-thought-out and expertly crafted menu offers a variety of meat and fish dishes, risotto and soups, and it is possible to try some traditional Croatian dishes with a chef stamp, such as Dalmatian “pašticada” with homemade dumplings, dough stuffed with fresh cheese and light cream or focaccia with anchovies, capers, sweet onions and goat cheese. Chef’s mastery, among other things, is felt in the excellent prepared risotto, a special recommendation is risotto with sheep cheese from island Pag, thyme and pear. Also interesting are combinations of sous vide duck breast, beetroot cream, blackcurrant jus, as well as wild fish tartar, raspberry bonbons, dehy-drated capers. A nice surprise was the dessert − plums cooked in local Plavac mali wine, served with vanilla ice cream. A great combination of warm, aromatic wine sauce, plums and cold ice cream. The wine list is rich, and all Croatian regions are represented, there are several foreign labels, but not a lot of them are served by the glass. During the season, we recommend that you book a table. In good weather, be sure to sit on one of the outdoor terraces and enjoy the view of passers-by.
