Brasserie on 7
L'avis de Gault&Millau
Brasserie on 7 is located at one of the best positions in the city of Split, in the middle of the renovated Riva, the Split waterfront, overlooking the sea and the passers-by. Everything exudes the comfort and atmosphere of the terrace and living room in Mediterranean style. The furniture is modern and trendy, but also comfy. The menu is simple but varied. It partly has regional food, and partly international, so it is adapted to guests of a wide range, who will relax and dine after a walk through the city, with a view of the most attractive part of it. The dishes are good, carefully prepared and balanced, whether it is a good risotto, chicken, seafood or a simple salad. The wine list is small but contains all known wines, some of which can be obtained by the glass. We ordered a seafood risotto that was delicious, cooked al dente, finely seasoned, with seashells on top. Then we tasted the octopus tentacles on the bean puree. The octopus was finely baked, soft, sprinkled with chunks of toasted bacon, parsley and micro herbs. Along with the dish, we also ordered a plain green salad. It was fresh and attractive, without a single old or wilted leaf. By these seemingly insignificant details, the quality of the restaurant can often be recognized. Brasserie on 7 has especially good desserts, cakes and pies, which are presented in a display case to attract guests passing by the Riva. The vegan chocolate cake was delicious, while the lemon cake was a little dry.
