As this year, due to the lockdown, we couldn’t unfortunately visit the restaurant Gariful, we publish the review and the score by Gault&Millau Croatia 2020.
Gariful is one of Hvar’s most famous restaurants. Right on the seashore, across catamaran docks, the restaurant has two beautiful terraces which both offer a view of the port and luxurious yacht, anchored or just sailing in. Gariful hosts world’s jet setters, who visit Hvar during the summer months. This gastronomic focal point for elite is owned by Ivan Gospodnetić, who rented the restaurant from his own father 20 years ago and has been expanding the business ever since. The A-list of famous stars, actors, singers, but also princes and sheikhs, who visit Gariful, gets longer every year, and the prices higher. Basic menu consists of freshly caught fish and seafood. You can always get oysters with champagne or sparkling wine, and Gariful offers world’s most exclusive champagnes, wines and other beverages. The other terrace that was added last year is a lounge bar, and very often gets privatized by guests who want some privacy during dinner. Next to the sea there is freshly caught fish, oysters, scampi and other seafood, exhibited in the ice, while in the very restaurant floor there is an aquarium with lobsters and white fish. One of their specialities is lobster carpaccio, but they also offer some more modest dishes, like cuttlefish or fava bean prepared in typical Dalmatia way, or even grilled squids. The meal preparation is traditional, and they pay a lot of attention to the presentation itself. The staff is professional. You can also have breakfast there. If you want to dine as rich and famous, Gariful is the place to be.
