L'avis de Gault&Millau
Kadena Restaurant is located above Zenta nautical marina. Along the entire restaurant there is a nice large terrace with a beautiful view of the sea and the island of Brač. Part of the terrace is closed with sliding windows, which is especially appreciated by smokers who have the opportunity to smoke at their table at any time of the year. The decoration is also one of the strongest assets of this spacious restaurant together with the designer lightings, the tables and the chairs. As for the offer, it is based on fresh fish, prepared mostly on the grill, with traditional side dishes, chard and grilled vegetables. However, you can also choose more modern dishes, such as basic versions of Japanese sushi and tuna tartare. We ordered a tartare that was impeccable in both appearance and taste, prepared from the finest tuna pieces. Carefully cleaned tuna, cut into small cubes, was served on equally small cubes of tomato, simply spiced and it tasted great. The thick fish soup was good, as was the grilled fish which is always fresh here, just like shrimp and other seafood. The squid dish that looked like spaghetti was interesting, delicate on palate and with a fine structure. We were expecting something more from the black risotto, which lacked a bit of a stronger flavour. The risotto was prepared according to the rules, al dente and creamy, but with an insufficiently pronounced taste. Kadena’s staff is quick and helpful, and a professional sommelier helped us choose the right wine from their rich wine list. With the return of chef Braco Sanjin, Kadena has gained its former glory back and is one of those restaurants in Split to which we are always happy to return. It is advisable to book in advance.
