Located in the historic centre of Korčula, the tavern Adio Mare exudes romance and comfort, and the surrounding stone houses evoke the atmosphere of some ancient times and the legend of the most famous Korčula sailor Marco Polo, whose birthplace is nearby. The central part of the tavern is dominated by a kitchen surrounded by six tables and a charcoal grill. The staff is cordial and professional and it is best to book a place, especially in summer. The menu is dominated by seafood, so after the usual appetizer - tasteful prosciutto and cheese - we tasted homemade macaroni with shrimps. The local specialty of Žrnovo was juicy and actually enough for two persons. However, we could not resist the waiter’s recommendation to try the grilled squids served with young Swiss chards. Rožata (crème caramel) flavoured with rose brandy was a great dessert for the end. During the dinner we were drinking pošip of local winemaker Krajančić. Simply and fresh traditionally prepared food, relaxed atmosphere and professional stuff makes Adio Mare a nice place for going out, but it’s time for a little refreshment of the menu.
