In Bracania, near Brtonigla, there is another of the leading Istrian restaurants - Konoba Morgan. Here, as in San Rocco, the kitchen is run by a lady chef, Ana Morgan, who has taken over the role from her parents, while brother Marko takes care of the rest. Don’t be fooled by the name, because Konoba (Tavern) Morgan has nothing of a tavern. It is an excellent restaurant with a high level gastronomic offer. The interior exudes simple elegance, and outside there is a spacious and beautifully landscaped terrace with a view of the green Istrian hills, with olive groves and vineyards, and in the distance you can see the sea. You will come here for meat, and especially game. Morgans have always been hunters and some of the food is their catch. In addition to classic Istrian appetizers such as homemade prosciutto, ombolo and sausages, there are also sophisticated pâtés and terrines, as well as foie gras in combination with honey, Moscato wine and peaches. We chose the duck pâté, with a fine structure and full flavor. We then ordered their famous hunting soup in which venison was paired with all kinds of vegetables. We especially enjoyed the homemade ravioli stuffed with duck meat. They make all kinds of pasta themselves, which they serve with various game sauces. We don’t remember when we ate a better Fiorentina, aged meat, perfectly grilled, juicy and pink on the inside with a fine crust on the outside. Our advice is to share dishes if you are in a larger company. The portions are big enough and you will be able to taste more of it. The same for the chocolate cake and the fruit crostata we ordered for dessert. With a carefully designed wine list, pleasant staff and good prices, konoba Morgan got this year the third Gault&Millau toque As all their guests we will come back with great pleasure. We are sure you will do the same, so better book your table.
