L'avis de Gault&Millau
Konoba Nono is located In Petrovija, not far from Umag. Owned by the Prodan family, the nearby property houses a mini farm with donkeys, goats, sheep, rabbits and geese. The place is ideal for families with children who will enjoy the environment. After the first look inside the tavern, you can see that Konoba Nono is a special place: the interior is decorated with musical instruments, hats and old photos. A pleasant and warm atmosphere. Outside there is a beautiful terrace surrounded by greenery. Here you can find the traditional Istrian cuisine made of local, seasonal ingredients. They offer homemade pasta, fish specialties, various goulash (stews) and boškarin (the Istrian autochthonous cattle) as well as dishes with truffles. As in all Istrian taverns, we started with a platter of excellent homemade cheeses, prosciutto and sausages. This was followed by the usual fuži (Istrian kind of pasta) with truffles. But the main dish delighted us: roasted goat under čripnja (a bell made of terracotta or metal. You put the food under it and bake it on a fire place). The tender, juicy and delicious meat melted in our mouth, just like the succulent potatoes that were baked with it. Don’t miss it If you come across when they have it on the daily menu. It is a top specialty that you will remember for a long time. We rounded off the meal with a great, creamy cheese and fig cake. The wine list is correct, the wines are mostly from Istrian producers. The prices are reasonable and the service is very kind. The good reputation that Konoba Nono has got among the guests is completely justified.
