The family tavern Vrilo, located at the source of the river Norin, only a few minutes drive from Metković to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, is worth turning off the main county road. The interior is decorated in the indigenous style of Dalmatian taverns, decorated with ships and fishing pots, and attracts visitors all year round with Neretva specialties - such as frogs and eels. For an appetizer, we recommend frogs stewed in onions, so delicious that guests can pick up all the sauce from the tray with homemade bread baked under the lid. It is also worth trying other frog dishes: fried in breadcrumbs and spicy risotto with frogs, and spicy eel and frog legs brodetto. An exceptional Neretva delicacy, eel, is also prepared fried, stewed and grilled. For the main course, you can choose steak, served with domestic potato halves and tomato and paprika sauce. Lovers of gambori (river prawns) will taste them on “buzara” (stewed), which, according to local customs, are also a little spicy. The flavours of the dish are well complemented by white wine Žilavka.
