L'avis de Gault&Millau
As this year, due to the lockdown, we couldn’t unfortunately visit the restaurant Mali raj, we publish the review and the score by Gault&Millau Croatia 2020.
This is where they set up the tables for various celebrations. Namely, in recent years, Mali Raj has profiled itself as a desirable wedding venue, and they have more and more inquiries from young couples especially from abroad. In Mali Raj they cook the traditional Dalmatian food, but with a little twist in the preparation of some dishes. The menu shows that they adapt to the taste of the international clientele. We tried the black cuttlefish risotto that was strong in flavour. We then ordered grilled Adriatic squid with chard and potatoes. It is commendable that they emphasized in the menu the difference between Adriatic squid, with a much better taste and more expensive, and those imported, frozen. For the main course, we switched to meat: Beefsteak Marinero with gnocchi in dried plum sauce. Almost a reinterpretation of pašticada, the famous Dalmatian braised meat. A large piece of finely baked, juicy steak, with homemade gnocchi on the side in a great thick red wine sauce and dried plums. Mali Raj has a rich selection of wines, sparkling wines and champagnes. The service fluctuates. The prices are slightly too high. Mali Raj is the ideal place for a romantic dinner, but you must book your table in advance.
