Restaurant Marina is located near the Novigrad marina, so you know right away that a spectacular view of the sea and the old town is waiting for you. The space is decorated classically and elegantly with a few interesting details, such as large mirrors and fresh flowers. The owners are the chef Marina Gaši and Davor Buršić, who welcomed us and presented the menu and the excellent wine list. As a greeting from the kitchen, we got a black princess donut with whipped butter and bonito prosciutto and a sea-bass cream fried in black sesame. A great ouverture to the next dish – a bonito tartare with some crunchy Jerusalem artichoke. Then we tried the crispy bread served with excellent olive oils. The next dish were the delicious scampi baked in lard, very tasty and precisely prepared. They served them with a mussel cream that was full of umami with a chocolate crumble and the addition of jalapeno peppers. This was followed by a classic, tagliatelle with scampi. Excellent homemade dough, scampi as good as in the previous dish and a rich, silky sauce with the addition of young, sauteed spinach. The last dish was also the one that thrilled us the most. Excellently baked sea bass fillet in mustard sauce that was both tender and full of flavor. Everything was served with parsley tempura, which was perfectly prepared. The desserts were delicious, though the least creative of all the dishes we tried. However the Teran wine cream with baked pears and the chocolate ganache with salted caramel cream and almond crumble were a very succulent end to our lunch. Chef Marina Gaši cooks creatively and elegantly, we recommend her restaurant to the most demanding gourmet audience.
