Design hotel and restaurant Navis are located in Opatija. As the hotel is built in the rock, you will be impressed by looking at it. On the other side, from the beautiful hotel’s restaurant, whose terrace is on the cliff, you will have once again a breathtaking view. The interior of the restaurant is carefully designed and very modern. Dark walls and contrasting chairs dominate, and the space is full of large windows in order to provide a great view from every position. The staff is young. They greeted us with a smile and presented the menu, by recommending what to eat since the offer is based on local and seasonal ingredients. We started with a beef carpaccio that was excellent, the meat at optimal temperature and texture, served with hard cheese and capers - a real classic. We tried two main dishes – the grilled fish fillet with chard and the beefsteak à la chef. The fish was fresh and juicy, but just properly prepared, without excitement. The chard was brilliantly seasoned. The steak was the best dish we tried during our visit, perfectly cooked, with a crispy crust and buttery texture and served with a very good mustard sauce. For dessert we chose another classic: a chocolate soufflé. It was really excellent, puffed up, fluffy with a full chocolate flavour, accompanied by a delicious vanilla ice cream. Navis is a restaurant where cooking is modern and ambitious, and if you catch a nice day and a beautiful sea view, there is no obstacle to a refined gastronomic experience.
