Tavern Nebuloza is located in the center of Rijeka, at the foot of Trsat stairs. The interior of the tavern is simple, rustic, and through its large windows there is an attractive view of the river Rječina. It is particularly impressive in the days when the river is covered by a foggy foam. The food in Nebuloza is traditional, with some elements of a more modern cooking. They offer mostly fish dishes, and the friendly staff will present you the offer of the day and, what is rare, they will tell you if the fish is wild or farmed. The wine list is correct, and you can always get some wines by the glass. We started the lunch with an excellent smoked tuna carpaccio and grilled octopus that was extremely soft. Then we chose one of their specialties, šurlice Stroganoff (a kind of local pasta with a meat sauce). Instead of the classic goulash-style sauce, this was an interesting combination of pasta with chunks of beefsteak and mushrooms just like a beef Stroganoff, but with the addition of zucchini and arugula, and instead of pickles, a little balsamic vinegar that added a light acidity. This dish is a real piatto unico, enough as a complete meal. This time again we ordered the swordfish crumble that pleasantly surprised us last year. Chunks of swordfish in a crust of ground peanuts, sesame seeds and Sichuan pepper, served with seasonal vegetables in a wok. And again it was delicious. Nebulosa is for sure among the best taverns in Rijeka.
