Para di Šoto
L'avis de Gault&Millau
Restaurant Para di Šoto is located in the old town of Split, next to one of the oldest hotels in the city, in a very pleasant and intimate place, near the Riva (waterfront), above the beautiful Voćni trg. There are old stone steps and narrow streets that lead to the hidden places of Diocletian’s Palace. It is a part of the old town, which in the evening, turns into the liveliest part of the city with many bars, cafes and a great atmosphere that attracts both locals and foreign tourists. Para di Šoto is a real little surprise that won us over with its decoration, service and food. Their cuisine is not pretentious and the prices are moderate. They use fresh ingredients in their meals. They offer the usual traditional Dalmatian dishes that they turn into modern meals and attractive creations. Served in a glass dish, the mussels that we tasted, with their richness, freshness and excellent preparation, were a great introduction to a good lunch. Equally beautiful were the grilled fresh St. Jacques scallops and the fillet of fresh swordfish on a tasty vegetable side dish, which we ordered for the main course. Finely roasted fish, and even better colorful and varied vegetables that we liked because of the tempting look and because they were properly cooked, neither raw nor overcooked. The pašticada (beef stew) with gnocchi was correct, but we ate some better ones. For dessert we chose a tiramisu. Served in a small glass cup it was creamy, fine tasting, and in the right amount, although we would have loved to have more because it was really tasty. Among many small restaurants in Split, we highly recommend Para di Šoto. It will not disappoint you.
