There is no restaurant in Rovinj with a nicer position than Puntulina. On the rocks above the sea, overlooking the islet of Sveta Katarina, Puntulina is like a backdrop for some romantic movie. It will delight you over and over again, as if you have never been there before. And if you find yourself in Puntulina at sunset, that scene will stay in your memory forever. The restaurant is the flagship of the Pelizzer family’s catering empire. They also own Restaurant Giannino restaurant, Rio snack bar and El Bugadur. In Puntulina you can eat very well, especially outside the peak of the summer season, when it is too crowded and when the young waitresses are running around to satisfy the wishes of each guest. We started like always with raw scampi with a few drops of olive oil and lemon and they did not disappoint us. Then we chose fuži with boškarin (the autochthonous Istrian cattle). In Puntulina this classic Istrian dish is excellent. The pasta cooked al dente to feel a firm texture, and the boškarin stew and sauce perfectly spiced and lighter than in most restaurants. We went back to the fish and chose sea bass rolls stuffed with scampi meat as a main course: a nicely served dish with delicate sea flavors. We also liked the grilled octopus: perfectly roasted, soft inside and juicy. For dessert we chose our favorite millefoglie. A destructured composition with pieces of puffy crispy pastry on a delicious vanilla cream, garnished with strawberries. The wine list offers a good selection of the most famous Istrian wines and other labels. The price corresponds to the unique experience. Be sure to book a table.
