L'avis de Gault&Millau
We have already mentioned that there is no such beautiful location as the one in Bol where the Ribarska kućica (Fisherman’s House) is located. On a small cape, in a house right by the sea, the restaurant has a spacious interior, and the outdoor area consists of two terraces overlooking the 15th century Dominican monastery and the church of St. John and the crystal clear blue sea. One terrace is on the plateau in front of the restaurant, and the other next to the beautiful pebble beach, in the shade of tamaris. On the terrace by the sea there is also a lounge bar, with large bamboo umbrellas and you can drink your drink literally with your feet in the water. On the outdoor terrace there is also a fireplace with an open barbecue grill on which they bake fish or meat. At Ribarska kućica they serve the traditional Dalmatian specialties with some elements of modern cuisine, especially in the presentation of the dishes. We started our lunch with a delicious, creamy tuna pâté and the usual marinated anchovies. Then we ordered the Mediterranean tuna, a slightly different way of preparing tuna, because otherwise we eat it either raw or grilled. Big chunks of tuna were served in a tomato sauce, with black olives together with green gnocchi. An interesting and colourful dish, well spiced and rich in flavours. As a main dish, we had a classic grilled steak with french fries. Although the meat was of good quality, it was slightly overgrilled. We rounded off the lunch with vanilla ice cream. The wine list is good. The staff is polite but lacks a little more professionalism. Prices are not always in line with the offer. Although the cuisine at Ribarska kućica has improved, there is still room for advancement. We recommend this place for the overall experience.
