L'avis de Gault&Millau
The rustic terrace in the stone house more than two centuries old is surrounded by orange and pittosporum trees, as if you are not only a ten minute walk from the old town. The exterior and interior of the Sesame restaurant are designed with carefully selected details - such as black and white photographs from Dubrovnik’s history - so it makes you feel relaxed. The menu is based on the richness of seasonal local ingredients and satisfies both fish and meat lovers and vegetarians. Daily fresh homemade bread delighted us with a portion of raw energy: fresh vegetables from organic farming with humus and basil pesto. We also tasted the local Ston oysters, and they were truly fresh and meaty. The main course - tuna trio - prepared in three ways: with tartar, confit and grilled, with avocado and seasonal vegetables, was very tasty. The next visit, we tasted a delicious creamy tomato soup and veal cheeks with potatoes puree, and all the dishes were beautifully arranged and served with a smile. For dessert, we ordered fresh seasonal fruit and homemade cheese. According to the waiter’s recommendation, we chose local wine by the glass. In addition to lunch or dinner, Sesame is also worth a late breakfast or cocktail.
