Every time we visit Villa Magdalena we are thrilled with creations by chef Mislav Božić. That proves just how much the region of Hrvatsko zagorje can offer. The restaurant is located within Krapinske toplice (spa hotel) and it is a must stop while following the gastronomic footsteps of Zagorje. We visited the restaurant on a sunny weekend and had our meal on a terrace which offers a beautiful view of the Zagorje hills. The chef is always trying to coordinate the menu with seasonal ingredients and he is doing a great job. For a starter we tasted bruschette with bacon, ham, vegetables and pumpkin oil. A creamy saffron and vegetables soup followed, aromatic and properly flavoured. We were especially pleased with the main course: juicy beefsteak served with forest fruits sauce and lightly spiced steamed vegetables. We always look forward to the desserts in Villa Magdalena, and this time we opted for two: Pumpkin oil & Zagorje - a cake and ice cream with pumpkin oil - and also chocolate pancakes stuffed with white chocolate mousse and forest fruits. Attractive and delicious both of them. A special part of the offer of this restaurant are vegan and vegetarian dishes, and on request also macrobiotic dishes. The beverage offer is a standard one, and the wine list contains around 50 mainly Croatian wines, but only local ones are served by the glass. The tableware is attractive, the staff young and friendly, and the prices are reasonable.
