L'avis de Gault&Millau
Zimska luka, the restaurant of Hotel Osijek, continues to display consistency in the quality of food and service. Located on the first floor in the centre of the city, along the Drava river and the promenade, it offers a beautiful view through its large glass panels. The ambiance is very relaxing, and the decor elegant. The service is unobtrusive, very polite and will readily describe in detail and recommend the dishes prepared from traditional, seasonal and mostly local ingredients in a very inventive way. For appetiser we tasted something really classic: homemade tomato soup with “tarana” noodles. The main course, a nicely baked and spicy duck confit with potatoes and purple cabbage was a pretty good choice. The second main course, veal loin, a tender piece of meat served with baked blue cheese potatoes, oyster mushroom and caramelised onions, was poorly spiced, and not such a good choice. But the dessert that followed was perfect: shufnudle (sweet pasta) with plum sauce and cream melted in the mouth. The wine list is not too extensive but includes impeccably selected, mainly regional wines, several archival and dessert wines, sparkling wines and champagnes. There are only few desserts on the menu, but the hotel’s pastry shop, located on the ground floor offers a much larger selection of desserts, so your sweet tooth will not be missing anything. A warm recommendation for all visitors to Osijek at any time of the year.
