Sandra & Dane Tahirović - Gault&Millau Great Chefs of Tomorrow of the Year 2020

Sandra and Dane Tahirović are a successful culinary couple running the famous Split's restaurant Zora bila. The spouses are both in charge of the restaurant, in the kitchen but also serving the guests. When you come to the restaurant you feel immediately this familiar atmosphere. Everything they do, they do it together, and that is why their restaurant is named by the song that brought them together, "Zora bila" (white dawn). Their cuisine is based on high-quality ingredients, and a lot of effort goes into creating interesting and innovative dishes, so the menu is never the same. Ever since they started, they wanted to create healthy and high-quality food. The chefs put a lot of passion in the food they prepare and this is why their dishes are absolutely exquisite. In 2019 they presented a special menu that included 50 healthiest ingredients in the world. What really encouraged them was the fact that their restaurant was selected by our guide as the best restaurant in Split. Even if their culinary visions are extremely different - Sandra has a lot of fantasy, she is the creative one and sometimes it's difficult to stop her passion for innovation, while Dane is much calmer, with a more traditional approach — the final result in the kitchen is a real explosion of tastes. Every dish they make has a story, and their menu is mostly inspired by the Mediterranean. For all of that this unique cooking couple deserves the Gault&Millau Trophy Great chefs of Tomorrow for 2020.
