The House of Wine Ivan Katunar is no longer just a family winery founded in the late 1980s in the picturesque Vrbnik, but an important factor in the development of the Kvarner wine scene. The business involves Ivan Katunar, his sons Ivan and Hrvoje, and the daughter-in-law Egle, who transformed the winery into an attractive tourist destination. Their vineyards are located in the Vrbničko polje (Vrbnik field) and Krasina, where the proximity to the sea and the sandy-stony soil create ideal conditions for indigenous varieties Žlahtina and Sansigot. They also produce Chardonnay, Yellow Muscat, rosé, sparkling wine Biser Žlahtine, and prošek (sweet wine) Sv. Ivan. Premium wines include Plavac Mali, Kurykta (a cuvée of local varieties), and Nigra (Syrah). The winery functions as an oeno-gastronomic destination, offering guided tours, cellar visits, tastings with cheese and olives. They have also a production of brandies and olive oil.
