Restaurant Balon, with its elegantly designed, modern space, is located nearby the embankment of the Sava river, which offers a lovely, scenic walk before or after a meal. The outside seating is one of the most beautiful and peaceful in the wider city centre, with a pleasant shade, hidden away from unwanted looks. With a big parking area for the guests and nearby public transport, the restaurant is very easy to find. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable about the offer. When it comes to the wine list, as it is quite varied, we advise you to ask to the waiter for a recommendation. A relatively short menu changes frequently, according to the seasonality of the produce. We began our meal with a glass of sparkling wine, followed by a beef tartare, which is the signature dish of this restaurant. A high quality meat, carefully balanced flavours, and a level of spiciness that guests can choose by themselves. We continued with a creamy, al dente risotto with Adriatic prawns, which were abundant in the dish. The sous vide octopus, served on fava bean cream, melted away in the mouth, while still holding on the freshness and the aroma of the sea. For the dessert, we could not pass on the chocolate soufflé with an almondy crust and refreshing vanilla ice cream. Restaurant Balon is consistent in offering well prepared food, that is based on good quality ingredients, and especially good meat and seafood. As they always introduce some small twists in the way they prepare the food, you can expect to try something different, new and exciting.
