L'avis de Gault&Millau
As this year, due to the lockdown, we couldn’t unfortunately visit the restaurant Zoi, we publish the review and the score by Gault&Millau Croatia 2020.
ZOI is a stunning restaurant in the very centre of Split. It consists of the interior and a truly magnificent terrace, which rests on the front walls of Diocletian’s Palace. The view of the Split waterfront and the sea on one side and the historic ambience on the other, combined with beautiful night lighting, make this place perfect for a romantic dinner under the stars. The atmosphere is fantastic and the cheerful staff, who are extremely friendly but professional at the same time, raise the standards of the restaurant to a higher level; however, there are some things that still need to be improved. For instance, the guest should never get the incorrect answer to the question about the ingredients on the plate. The beef tongue, which we ordered as a cold appetizer, met our expectations fully. Tender meat and interesting combination of quinoa, beetroot, cheese cream and date jam will intrigue all genuine food lovers. A seemingly simple dish, tagliatelle with shrimp, asparagus and crab bisque won us over with its harmony of flavours, which is reason enough to return to ZOI. Tuna steak made from Adriatic Kali tuna was excellently cooked, but orzotto with vegetables, although delicious, was not the best option as a side dish for tuna. The abundant wine list is enriched with a detailed description of each wine, which is an enormous help to the less versed when it comes to choosing the right one. The waiter’s sommelier skills are consistent with the type of restaurant. ZOI also offers caviar selection, while true foodies can also enjoy a 5-course tasting menu. Be careful not to miss the entrance to the restaurant, it should be marked better. We also recommend that you book your table on time, especially during the summer months.
