Decanter medals for Kvarner Wines
At the world's most prestigious wine competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards, winemakers from the Kvarner Wines Association won 12 medals. The winemakers were congratulated on this great success by Ivica Lukanović - Mayor of Primorsko-Goranska County, Irena Peršič Živadinov - Director of the Tourist Board of Kvarner and Anton Brusić - President of the Kvarner Wines Association.
"Success did not come by chance - it is the result of many years of work, investment and perseverance of the people behind each bottle of wine. We are especially pleased that it is the wines from Kvarner that have been recognized at the most prestigious international competitions such as the Decanter World Wine Awards, but also at the newly launched Kvarner International Wine Trophy in Vrbnik. These are awards that confirm that Kvarner wines are becoming an increasingly important brand not only in Croatia, but also in the world, " said Mayor Lukanović, adding that through wine, people around the world have the opportunity to taste the climate, soil and way of life in Kvarner.
“For more than 30 years, the Kvarner Tourist Board has been systematically developing and supporting the region's wine and gastronomy story, as one of the key reasons for guests to come. We are particularly proud of our cooperation with the Kvarner Wine Association, which gained additional momentum in 2021 through the establishment of the joint brand Kvarner Wines. Since then, we have recorded a series of successful appearances at fairs and presentations, as well as significant growth in wine quality, as confirmed by numerous international awards, including over 60 medals from the prestigious Decanter competition. All of this further positions Kvarner as a leading wine and gastronomy destination that rightfully bears the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2026, ” said Irena Peršić Živadinov, director of the Kvarner Tourist Board.
Anton Brusić, president of the Kvarner Wines Association, is particularly proud that the majority of awards they gained for wines made from indigenous grape varieties of Kvarner: “This is a message to us and winemakers to continue working and expanding vineyards with indigenous grape varieties. ”
