Taste the Mediterranean by Gault&Millau Croatia

The fifth international festival Taste the Mediterranean by Gault&Millau Croatia will take place this year in the city of Hvar, from 1st to 3rd June, under the auspices of the city of Hvar and the Tourist board of City of Hvar.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of organized tourism, the City of Hvar will host this unique gourmet festival that has become an inevitable meeting point for Mediterranean food lovers. Taste the Mediterranean comes to the island which is, together with the island of Brač, the most responsible for the inclusion of Croatian Mediterranean diet in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. In 2013, UNESCO recognized the value of autochthonous island products and protected them.

Culinary shows by leading foreign and Croatian chefs crowned with Gault&Millau toques, wine tastings and educational workshops will be held in the beautiful renovated Arsenal building on the Hvar seaside promenade, and the programme also includes an exclusive dinner on Palmižana, in the magical garden of Meneghello family, prepared by chefs Lionel Levy and Jerko Krstulić, dinners on the Španjola fortress, overlooking the city and nearby Pakleni islands. Mediterranean market will take place on Hvar’s main square – the famous Pjaca, where festival visitors will have the opportunity to taste and buy traditional products from the island of Hvar. This year, Taste the Mediterranean festival will address the burning issue of food waste and how to stop it: Stop Food Waste!

Taste the Mediterranean celebrates the Mediterranean lifestyle, in particular gastronomy and traditional Mediterranean products. The fifth anniversary edition of the festival in Hvar will gather a large number of foreign and local chefs, sommeliers, artists, journalists and lovers of good food – all with the desire to share experiences and enjoy delicious moments together.
