Gault&Millau Croatia guide teamed up with chef Orhan Cakiroglu to cook a dinner for the winners of the Heart of Sarajevo Awards for TV Series

The award ceremony for the best achievements in the category of TV series at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival gathered 150 guests, nominees of drama series and comedy. The annual event established last year is a celebration of high quality TV production from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo. This year 17 series from the region competed for the Heart of Sarajevo Awards, and some of the best actors, actresses, directors and screenwriters were among the nominees. To name some of them: Jasna Đuričić, Tihana Lazović, Jovana Stojiljković, Nika Rozman, Jelena Đokić, Lana Barić, Goran Bogdan, Uliks Fehmiu, Izudin Bajrović, Dragan Bjelogrlić, Slavko Štimac, Zlatko Burić, Ankica Tilić, Dalibor Matanić and Nikola Kojo. The winners of the awards were decided by a jury composed of more than 400 film professionals from the region.

The award ceremony was held in the Hotel Hills Sarajevo, under the patronage of BH Telecom and was hosted by the actor and TV presenter Tarik Filipović. At the end of the event the happiest was the crew of “The Last Socialist Artefact” as they won awards in 5 categories: for the Best Drama Series, the Best Leading Actor - Izudin Bajović, the Best Supporting actress - Lana Barić, the Best Screenplay for the Episode and the Best Director for the Episode - Dalibor Matanić.

The dinner created exclusively for this event in cooperation with the renowned gastronomic guide Gault&Millau Croatia, was prepared by Orhan Cakiroglu, chef of the Matsunoki restaurant of the Bellevue Hotel on the Island of Mali Lošinj.

Upon arrival guests were served a selection of cold starters, made with fresh ingredients from local producers, along with the flavour of fresh rosemary that Turkish born chef Cakiroglu brought with him from the Croatian Island of vitality, where he is based in the last months. The guests at the dinner enjoyed very much the creations and flavours made by chef Orhan.

Main Course
Turkish coffee marinated beef tenderloin, Garlic butter sauce and sautéed potatoes, or tofu salad with green chickpeas and cauliflower with green garlic oil - for the vegetarians

Frenchy and Sveti Roko, selected wines from Saints Hills Winery from Croatian peninsula of Pelješac, were served to round up a sensory experience and create an exciting evening for all the participants. A few kilometres away from the Hills Hotel – where the TV Series Awards ceremony were held - the famous Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award for his outstanding contribution to the art of film. The prize has been presented by Mirsad Purivatra, the founder of the Sarajevo Film Festival, at the open air cinema in front of more than 3000 people. No wonder that Mikkelsen’s night in Sarajevo ended up with the wine tasting of Le Chiffre, an aged Chardonnay from Saints Hills Winery.

Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) is the biggest film gathering of film industry in South East Europe and its 28th edition is taking place from August 12 to 19, 2022. European directors Ruben Ostlund and Sergei Loznitsa, and the American actor turning director Jesse Eisenberg also received this year’s Honorary Hearts of Sarajevo. The prizes were presented by Jovan Marjanović, director of SFF. The Festival will screen more than 230 films from around the world, presenting world premieres, respectable directors and actors, as the young talents and beginners. Besides loving films, all of them have one more thing in common: they can’t resist the local gastronomy and the unique hospitality of the city of Sarajevo.
