Chef's Restaurant
Zagreb's Martićeva Street and the surrounding neighborhood have been synonymous with creative energy, urban rhythm and a diverse gastronomic offer that follows global trends for years. In this dynamic district, the Golden Shell acts as a fascinating constant - a place whose authentic appearance and cuisine resist passing trends, an oasis anchored in traditional Mediterranean cuisine. The main reason for coming is fish and seafood. The offer depends on the daily catch, and fresh fish is prepared simply and precisely. The meal begins with a basket of homemade bread with the addition of cuttlefish ink or olives, with a creamy cod pate. We enjoyed fried shrimps and prawns, stone trills and powerful Adriatic squid, expertly grilled, with arugula on warm potatoes as a side dish. If they are on the daily menu, it is worth trying shrimp buzara with homemade black pasta, rooster gregada or grilled rovanica. Mediterranean flavors are followed by the meat part of the offer, we single out pašticada with homemade gnocchi. Finally, an airy rožata or honey cake and warm fritters as a sweet greeting from the kitchen. The unobtrusive, slightly retro interior is complemented by the terrace, which gives the restaurant a completely different atmosphere on warm days. Cordial service and a relaxed atmosphere round off the experience of a place that does not succumb to trends, but remains true to its own character.
