Gault&Millau's review 2026

A favourite spot for Osijek locals and all other guests seeking authentic regional specialties, Čingi Lingi čarda is located at the meeting point of Slavonia and Baranja – on the shore of Lake Bilje, just a few kilometres from Osijek. The restaurant is almost always full, so booking a table is recommended. The ambiance is warm and inviting, combining contemporary design with traditional decorative elements, while large glass walls open up views of the lake and the Baranja landscape. The menu changes seasonally, although some dishes are long lasting on the menu. From roe deer carpaccio subtly seasoned with coarse salt and fresh arugula, to grilled pike-perch served with Swiss chard and potatoes, and beef tenderloin in green pepper sauce – each dish highlights local ingredients. If you visit in autumn, when the colours of Baranja are stunning, we recommend the traditional “Julika’s Plums” for dessert: a moist muffin with mascarpone in a rich sauce of plums and red wine. Čingi Lingi čarda collaborates with the Zlatno Brdo winery from Zmajevac and offers their top-quality wines, often presented during special tasting evenings.
