Gault&Millau's review 2026

Deep in the Tramontana forest on the island of Cres, at 330 meters above sea level, lies Art Farm Filozići. This unique place includes rental cottages, a family farm where the Zlatkov family grows vegetables, and a small gastronomic oasis offering Adriatic delicacies and excellent wines. Igor Zlatkov occasionally organizes art colonies here. Guests should not expect a standard restaurant experience, but rather an immersion in nature and a lifestyle created by a family that left the city about a decade ago to settle in the abandoned village of Filozići. They serve dishes made from ingredients sourced from the sea, forest, or their own garden and production. They produce smoked fish and aged cheeses with noble mold, and guests can try bruschetta with wild garlic topped with dried cottage cheese, roasted peppers seasoned with their own wine vinegar and umeboshi. Their version of sushi, called Filoški futomaki, is made from minced goat meat, one wrapped in prosciutto, the other in pancetta, with fillings such as roasted peppers and kajmak or cucumbers and ajvar. Their most famous dish is gregada made from the daily catch, but they also prepare a meat version using local fallow deer. They serve wines from their own cellar. Reservations are required.
