Gault&Millau's review 2026

The hotel on the Danube marked its twentieth anniversary with a complete interior renovation – from elegant rooms to a modernly designed restaurant. Its new look is matched by a rich gastronomic offering, focused mainly on traditional Srijem specialties, accompanied by wines from Ilok wineries. They were the first to offer fiš-paprikaš (fish stew) made from deboned fish, and today they are known for catfish in wine prepared for two, as well as pike perch – grilled, served with vegetables, or fried in beer batter. The meat menu keeps pace with the fish dishes: duck breast in cranberry sauce, turkey fillet in basil cream, or pork tenderloin in cherry sauce offer intriguing flavour combinations, while their wild boar meatballs with bread dumplings are particularly delicious. Taške, a traditional Slavonian dessert, are served here with small bowls of walnuts, poppy seeds, and sugar, and the crêpes are more than generously filled with Nutella. Hotel Dunav features three covered terraces right by the promenade, overlooking an avenue of plane trees, as well as a tennis court and a children’s playground. Pets are welcome, and the facilities this destination offers are equally appealing to hunters, nature lovers, business groups for team building, newlyweds, and families with children.
