Gault&Millau's review 2025

Duolnjo kola, in the island dialect, means Lower Street, and we’ll show you how a stroll through this part of Stari Grad reveals all the charms of Hvar’s way of life. The aromas of home-cooked food wafting through the air, the grandmothers sitting and chatting on the street, the cats lazily stretching during the summer heat – in these few hundred meters you can truly feel the spirit of Dalmatia. Jurin podrum (Jura’s cellar) fits perfectly into this island atmosphere with its outdoor tables, the charming rustic details, and the ‘slow food’ sign inviting you to enjoy the rhythm of the ‘’Mediterraneo’. The menu is designed in trattoria style with simple dishes at affordable prices so that you can enjoy a casual lunch or dinner with friends in a pleasant atmosphere. It’s worth noting that Jurin podrum produces its own olive oil and organic vegetables. We started our meal with an octopus salad that was enriched with juicy onion rings, and then we tried the pasta with prawns. There are about 10 types of homemade pasta on the menu, and this seafood version was full of the delicate flavours of the prawns, while the portion was enough for two people. The absolute hit in the restaurant is the game that can be found in the vicinity of Stari Grad. Wild boar goulash with homemade gnocchi is an extremely powerful and aromatic dish with meat that melts in your mouth. A must-try dish at Jurin podrum.
