Gault&Millau's review 2026

The name of Konoba Doma – in Croatian Doma means at home - in the small village of Klanjci, near Sveti Petar u Šumi, perfectly matches the homemade Istrian food that this tavern offers, which is the same that you would eat in traditional Istrian houses. However, their specialty is the barbecue, and they are known for their pork dishes, because the owners of the tavern, the Budak family, are also pig farmers. The tavern is nicely decorated, the atmosphere is warm, and in addition to the owners who are always present, there is a friendly staff that will take care of you. Outside there is a covered terrace that offers enough shade in the hottest months and protects from the strong sun, but also from the rain. Almost everything they offer comes from their own farming. In addition to meat, Konoba Doma also offers cold cuts and sausages, homemade pasta and, in the season of the wild asparagus, excellent fritajas (Istrian frittata or omelette). The grilled chicken that we ordered was excellent, juicy and perfectly baked, as were the ribs with homemade baked potatoes. The portions are generous, so keep that in mind if you want to have some homemade dessert at the end of the meal. Book a table and enjoy the real, good Istrian food.
