Gault&Millau's review2026
Island of Lastovo is famous for having the darkest night skies in the Mediterranean, distinctive stone houses with ornate chimneys, pristine waters, and remarkably preserved nature. Sustainable tourism here is built on small family accommodations, local gastronomy, and respect for the environment. A perfect example is the Podanje family farm (OPG) run by the Simić family in Prgovo field. Registered as an excursion farm, Podanje welcomes guests by reservation and can host groups of up to 80 people. In a relaxed setting among olive groves, guests enjoy homemade dishes and wines from island producers. Many ingredients come directly from the family’s organic fields, including olives, fruits, and vegetables, so the menu follows the rhythm of the seasons. Meals are prepared in front of guests under the traditional bell while homemade brandies, cheese, and prosciutto are served as the food slowly cooks. Under the bell they prepare goat, lamb, veal, and octopus, while the grill offers various meats. Side dishes include vegetables such as Swiss chard, broad beans, peas, zucchini, peppers, and eggplant. Specialties include broad beans with cuttlefish, octopus stew, and traditional Lastovo dish made from dried fish. Desserts usually include pancakes or fritule. Since the farm is located inland, transportation is provided for guests without a car and is included in the price of the meal.
