Gault&Millau's review 2026

Some restaurants have been for years in the Gault&Millau Croatia guide. One of them, with a honest kitchen and consistent quality is the restaurant Kvarner in the city of Labin. Everything has already been said about this restaurant, but for those who are holding the guide in their hands for the first time, we will give the main details. If you find yourself in Labin, stop by Kvarner for lunch or dinner. You will find it on the San Marco promenade. The beautiful view from the terrace overlooks the sea, the island of Cres and the old city walls. The interior is decorated simply, with darker tones and wooden furniture, without unnecessary details. The menu, long and varied, is stable and adapted to a large audience. Plenty of meat dishes, fish specialties, various pastas and risottos, soups, cheese and cold cuts and classic desserts. If you are a fan of fish and seafood, ask the waiter to recommend the fresh fish from the daily catch. Among the desserts, Labin krafi with walnuts stands out, a traditional dessert that is worth trying. The other desserts are classic and well-known, but correct. The wine list is good, with a selection of local liqueurs and brandies. The prices are still reasonable, and the portions are generous, which further contributes to the good impression. Sometimes, when the place is overcrowded, the staff lack patience. We recommend booking a table, especially in summer.
