The bistro on Gundulićeva Street embodies everything a city like Zagreb needs: a pleasant atmosphere, affordable prices, and an offer that draws on Croatian culinary tradition with an innovative twist. Their philosophy is based on using fresh, seasonal ingredients, which results in a targeted menu that includes regular classics as well as daily dishes and always at least one soup. They make their own sourdough bread, make their own gnocchi, and don’t overdo it with their offerings: there are always two or three appetizers such as the soparnik (a pie with two layers of flatbread filled with Swiss chard, garlic and olive oil) with homemade sauce, and five or six main courses, of which we highlight the grilled chicken breast with bulgur salad of seasonal vegetables and Romesco sauce. They have some Italian Prosecco on the wine list, and they are known for their cocktails, some of which they created themselves. Although there are only about twenty seats, Market is a reliable option for a relaxed and quality meal. The ratio of price, quality, and portion size is one of its strongest assets.
