Gourmet Restaurant
The carp from the ponds around Našice were once delivered to the Viennese court, and today they are a delicacy at Restaurant Ribnjak, also renowned for its top-quality, aged steaks from its own farm. Recommended starters include fish pâté and carp chips, followed by Posavina-style soup made from three types of fish. For the main course, highlights are grilled carp, “drunken” carp, or carp in cream, which is slowly cooked for 45 minutes. For a shared experience, order the fish platter for two, featuring Parisian-style catfish, grilled pike perch, carp coated in cornmeal, and fish croquettes with potatoes and Swiss chard. Other specialties include fish stew with homemade pasta, catfish perkelt (stew), grilled catfish with thyme, and pike perch Orly in beer batter. Portions are generous, prices acceptable, and service is fast and professional. After a satisfying meal, enjoy a glass of wine from the local vineyards, as well as a classic dessert such as homemade cheese, cherry, or apple strudel, or pancakes. The rustic interior, spacious enough for celebrations, is adorned with old photographs as a reminder of the pond’s rich history, while the waitstaff are attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant has a large parking area, and four-legged guests are welcome – though only on the terrace.
