Recognised for years as one of the most prominent restaurants in Labin, this elegantly decorated restaurant is open all year round and is part of the unmissable gastronomic offer of eastern Istria. Located in the beautiful hotel of the same name, the restaurant Peteani has an elegant interior that exudes warmth and sophistication, while the panoramic view of the old city of Labin adds a special charm – mostly in the evening, when the atmosphere turns gently romantic. The menu offers inventive combinations of local and seasonal ingredients – from fresh fish and shellfish to premium meat cuts, homemade pasta and regional cheeses. Among the appetizers, along with the traditional white fish carpaccio and the cuttlefish salad, you will find poached prawns with purple onion and blueberry cream. The service is professional, they offer a good selection of wines, and the waiter will help you choose. They pay special attention to the presentation of the dishes, and the chef skilfully handles even the most delicate ingredients: the duck breast in port and dried fig sauce won us over with the perfect balance of flavours and juiciness. We also tried the Adriatic squid with a Kvarner scampi tail on pea cream and with fennel in tempura. The presentation of this seafood platter was particularly attractive, and the fennel in tempura was excellent. To finish, we couldn’t resist the dessert. Alongside traditional Labin-style fried krafi filled with fresh cheese, we tried the ricotta dumpling with a hazelnut filling – a dessert that delights both the eye and the palate, and was a great finale of this memorable dining experience.
