The popular Mlinka – as its guests call it – is an example of a successful gastro-pub. It is packed from morning to night, and on weekends without a reservation you will have a hard time getting a seat in one of the halls of this restaurant in the north of the city. Many come for the good craft beers from the family brewery, and then have something to eat on the way, while others visit for the cooked local traditional dishes and good barbecue, which they usually order beer with. In any case, Mlinka always offers fresh homemade bread and crispy low-fat chips, and goulash, sarma (sour cabbage leaves filled with minced meat and rice) with mashed potatoes, bunceki (shanks) and sausages with cabbage, špek fileki (tripe), breaded hake with potato salad and similar dishes are the first to disappear from the daily menu. Excellently grilled ćevapi (grilled small patties of mince meat), pljeskavice (a large flat grilled minced meat patty), lungići (pork sirloin), BBQ ribs, grilled steak and rump steak are available all year round, and as for the side dishes you can choose between baked potato halves, baked beans, mushrooms and grilled vegetables, French fries with sauces and various salads. Among the most popular dishes is the Mlinarica burger, for which they make their own mixture, and for a break from the grill, you will be happy with a juicy veal steak and homemade croquettes. For a sweet end to the meal, they offer cremeschnitte (sort of millefeuille), baklava (filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and soaked in melted sugar syrup), chocolate and cheese cakes. The waiters at Mlinka are very busy but always smiling and friendly, the atmosphere is casual, and the price-quality ratio is fair.
