Following a thorough interior renovation, Stari Toranj Restaurant has become an even more attractive venue in an excellent location. It is situated about one hundred meters from the city center and only fifty meters from the Danube River, with a large parking area nearby. For more than fifteen years, the restaurant has been run by the Francuzović family, and their success is reflected in the loyal guests who keep returning. The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating areas, while a massive dark green tiled stove and brick flooring add a special charm and warmth to the interior. Wood dominates the décor, the new furniture is modern, the lighting pleasant, and the staff young, cheerful, and professional. The menu offers traditional Slavonian fish and meat specialties: carp fiš paprikaš served with homemade pasta, Danube catfish or game perkelt served with homemade dough with cheese and bacon, pork cheeks in red wine sauce, grilled patties, premium steaks, pasta and risottos enriched with seasonal ingredients, as well as pizzas. Chef Igor Vlatković and his team prepare mostly simple yet very tasty and attractively presented dishes. To start lunch or dinner, we recommend the creamy smoked Danube fish pâté, crispy carp chips, and delicious homemade flatbread. A pleasant surprise is the smoked Danube pike-perch served with potato salad, while meat lovers will enjoy the juicy stuffed pork loin wrapped in caul fat, filled with cheese and ham. For dessert, you can choose between cheesecake and pancakes, while the wine list offers quality local wines.
