Gault&Millau's review 2026

Thanks to its easily accessible location - in the very center of Samobor, next to the historic town and Hotel Livadić - Salvator is a frequent destination for lunch or a relaxed dinner after a stroll. Its large cellar space is one of the special features forming this restaurant, a part of Samobor’s gastronomic history and identity. The menu relies on authentic homemade dishes and seasonality, without unnecessary trendy interventions. Salvator remains faithful to well-executed traditional dishes based on local ingredients, and portions are more than generous. Subtle influences from foreign cuisines appear occasionally, always in service of balance. The cooking style is elegant, each plate feels composed and calm, with emphasis on harmony of flavors, textures, and precise execution. The staff is present yet unobtrusive, they know how to adapt to guests. The slow-roasted, juicy veal shank comes highly recommended, and if you visit during the winter months, don’t miss the local classic: blood sausage with sautéed potatoes and braised cabbage. The meal is almost unimaginable without a Samobor kremšnita from Café Livadić located across the street. The restaurant has its own parking area, and due to its popularity among locals and visitors, reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
