Housed in a beautifully restored former school building, this restaurant has been designed with great care and style, enhanced by details that have made it a favourite spot both on social media and among locals and tourists alike. The teacher’s lounge, the charming outdoor terraces, and the old library add to its inviting atmosphere, making it a place worth revisiting more than once. But the main reason for our visit – the food – impressed us even more. The menu features creatively designed dishes based on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, thoughtfully reinterpreted in a modern and attractive way by the renowned Slovenian chef Ana Roš, as a consultant, and chef Jan Vukasović. Each dish is carefully crafted, showcasing freshness, precision, and respect for every ingredient. We tasted an open sourdough sandwich with beef tongue, delicious and original. From pasta, we chose the lasagnetta with traditional Istrian sausage, good, but a bit filling. We especially liked the unusual Zagreb style rabbit steak with warm tartare sauce, grilled cabbage and white truffle. The meat was tender, and the breading was crispy. And even better was the venison fillet, with wild blueberries, shallot sauce and porcini mushrooms. The chocolate tarte with hazelnuts was the happy end of this dinner. Each plate was a story in itself – harmonious, balanced and impressive. The friendly waiter advised us on wines by the glass. One thing is for sure: we will be returning here for more gastronomic experiences.
