Chef's Restaurant
Hotel’s restaurant Villa Magdalena is located in the very centre of this well-known spa city, offering beautiful views of the Zagorje hills. The interior has remained unchanged for years (in bright colours), though the menu is occasionally updated. Each new dish, however, fits the long-established concept – a blend of traditional local flavours with contemporary culinary trends. The kitchen is always ready to accommodate guests’ needs, offering vegan, gluten-free, or macrobiotic dishes. For those without special dietary requests, a meal can start with one of the classic Zagorje soups or an appetizer such as savoury zlevka (cornbread) or a crackling spread, continuing in the same vein – traditional Zagorje flavours presented in a modern way. Among the main courses, the “Zagorje Art” for two stands out: veal in mushroom sauce and roasted duck with bread dumplings and mlinci (thin dried flatbread). You can also order homemade sausage confit in pork fat, served with a layered potato dish and sauerkraut sauce. The wine selection mainly features local winemakers, most of them are served by the glass, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the prices are in line with the Croatian average.
