Gault&Millau's review 2026

The Zlatni Lug complex is the realization of a long-standing dream of Thomas Heinz Pandžić, a great lover of nature and tradition. The foundations of the estate, where you can experience all the charms that Slavonia has to offer - from gastronomic delicacies and local wines to the untouched nature and the authentic Slavonian hospitality - were laid in 2008. Zlatni Lug is located in the village of Donji Emovci, not far from Požega, and the estate has a bed and breakfast with 20 modern rooms, a shop with a wide range of local wines, and a restaurant - a traditional Slavonian tavern. The gastronomic offer is based on Slavonian cuisine, on specialties such as čobanac, fish paprikash, roasted meat platters, homemade sausages and kulen, various dishes under the lid and products made from black Slavonian pigs. Here you can taste the Vinedresser ćevap - made from several types of meat, which is combined with homemade sausages and bacon. Everything is prepared in a rich, aromatic sauce based on onions, peppers and spices, often with the addition of wine, which gives the dish a characteristic depth of flavour. It is served with homemade bread or potatoes, and goes perfectly with the wines from Slavonian wineries - Galić, Perak, Enjingi, Adžić, Kutjevo. The restaurant’s interior reminiscent an old Slavonian houses and taverns, with many natural materials such as wood and brick, and their wine cellar looks the same. With all the amenities on offer, Zlatni Lug rounds off the complete tourist and gastronomic experience of Slavonia.
