Winery presentation by Gault&Millau

The Gerštmajer family’s wine tradition is a hundred years old, with three generations of winemakers - Mihalj Mišika Gerštmajer, his son Mihalj Gerštmajer Mišika Jr., and the grandson Ivan Gerštmajer Zelember who is more and more involved. Their vineyards extend over 15 hectares on the best wine-growing locations, woven into the picturesque landscape of Banovo Brdo. They produce up to 50 thousand litres of wine annually, from varietal to predicate wines. The most common variety is Graševina, and the others are Rhine Riesling, Traminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Blue Frankish. Mišika Sr. used to joke that there are only two types of wine - white and red, and sour and sweet. When other winemakers finished harvesting, he would just start his own. Mišika Jr. took over the estate in 1998. During the war, he had to leave Zmajevac, and when he returned, he renovated the vineyard, bought new machinery, invested in the equipment and the wine storage, and devoted himself completely to the family tradition. The wines can be tasted in the old cellar that dates from 1854 and in the outdoor, covered tasting room for 50 people. The family tradition is continued by his son Ivan Gerštmajer Zelember, which is a guarantee that the family legacy is in good hands.
