Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
The oldest Croatian winery, which has been privately owned for the past twenty years, is a treasure trove of the best wines from the Kutjevo region, which regularly receive world awards and recognition. Their trademark is Graševina. In the 18th century the Empress Maria Theresa and Baron Trenk visited the impressive cellar from 1232 and stayed there for a week. The grapes come from the vast expanse of vineyards on the slopes of Papuk and Krndija, so their wines, which have been produced continuously since the 13th century, truly reflect the history and terroir of the Zlatna dolina (Golden Valley). They have also expanded their own wine portfolio with wines from the Đakovo winery and organic wines from the Brič winery in Slovenia, whose cellar is listed among the 100 most beautiful cellars in Europe. Accompanied by an oenologist, a visit to the Kutjevo cellar with a barrel that can hold more than 50 thousand liters of Graševina is really an exceptional experience, just like the wine tasting. Their luxurious restaurant Slavonska kuća Vinkomir, with a view on Kutjevo and the vineyards gives an additional pleasure, combining the soul of Slavonia with modern culinary delicacies.
