Winery presentation by Gault&Millau

The Patkoš family winery is located on the northern slopes of Papuk, above Orahovica, in the middle of a forest. This is how its owner Vedran Patkoš managed to combine his two loves - he is a forestry technician, and he has been involved in wine production for two decades. His family, originally from Hungary, arrived in the Orahovica region about a hundred years ago. The first vine was planted by his grandfather in his small vineyard, and Vedran, the third generation of winegrowers and winemakers in the family, has continued the tradition. Today, he has six hectares of vineyards, where Blue Frankish grapes grow best, while the remaining areas are planted with Graševina, Silvaner, Merlot and Pinot Noir. Combining the tradition with modern winemaking, annually he harvests about 60 tons of grapes and produces about 40 thousand litres of wine, which are sold throughout Croatia. The winery has also a large terrace overlooking the forest. Here the visitors can come for a wine tasting when the weather is nice. When it’s bad, there is an indoor tasting room for about forty people. It would be a good idea to make a reservation in advance. In addition to the wine Vedran Patkoš is happy to offer to his guests - individuals or groups – the cured meat that he produces.
