L'avis de Gault&Millau
As this year, due to the lockdown, we couldn’t unfortunately visit the restaurant Pojoda, we publish the review and the score by Gault&Millau Croatia 2020.
The restaurant is located in Kut, the old part of city of Vis, in pedestrian area. The interior is decorated with many paintings, all collected by the owner, and the terrace is hidden in the shade of large orange and lemon tree, which has its own fragrant charm. The menu offers autochtonous fish specialities, the best in Vis, with interesting names and combinations, like Moj nono (my pap), Pojorski bronzić, Orbiko, Polpete od hobotnice (octopus patties) and, of course, the famous Pašta fažol na brujet of Vis (pasta and beans brodeto). All these dishes have a unique way of combining fish with vetches, which is exactly what Vis is famous for. Pojoda restaurant also offers their famous lobster brodeto. This most popular speciality of Vis is prepared in a special way and served in a metal dish in the middle of table. The lobster is prepared in fresh tomato sauce with spices, and the lobster meat stays fresh and bursting with sauce. Spaghetti are excellent as a side dish. After these dominating salty flavours, the dessert comes as a refreshment. In Pojoda there is yet another Vis classic which was brought to perfection thanks to the kitchen: carob chocolate cake, served ice-cold. The lower part of this juicy cake is full of carob’s strong flavour, and the top has some light chocolate. Pojoda is the only restaurant in Vis that works all year long. It is located in pedestrian area, so it is not accessible by car, and there is no parking area.
