Distillery Jelena and Velimir Babić, small premium alcoholic beverage producers from Vinkovci, are specialized in honey - based products. They started out in beekeeping. What began as honey production evolved over time into a much more complex story centred on distillation under the brand Abelo. They discovered that honey, as a complex and aromatic raw material, offers enormous potential for creating unique beverages. Their gins - Pannonian Gold, Firefly, Forest Fairy, Honey Spirit, Pannonian Sea - as well as special editions (such as glitter gin), are not based on traditional grain alcohol but on distillate derived from honey. In addition to gin, they have developed honey-based liqueurs from traditional mead to more modern interpretations with aronia, cherry, carob, and chili pepper. Particularly notable are innovative products such as propolis liqueur or combinations with hemp and walnuts. They also offer non-alcoholic products such as creamed honey and various honey blends. In addition to their web shop, their products are sold in specialized stores and in their tasting room in Vinkovci, which they describe as “a place of meeting, education, and enjoyment.”
