Cheese dairy Mijo Pranjić and his wife Anja have proven that success is possible through dedication and vision even in one of the least developed areas of Vukovar-Srijem County. His family began raising mainly cattle and dairy cows in 1983, and after taking over the farm following his father’s death, he shifted toward dairy production. Together with his wife, he cultivates 40 hectares of land (owned and leased), cares for 35 cows that produce 600 liters of milk daily, and uses just over a third of it for cheese production. In their mini dairy, they produce fresh, cooked, soft, hard, semi-hard, and smoked cheeses, as well as cheeses with additives such as paprika, chives, pepper, parsley, nettle, pumpkin seeds, porcini mushrooms, and garlic. They have divided responsibilities: Mijo takes care of the livestock, while Anja, a trained cheesemaker, handles everything related to cheese production. They embarked on this project for the future of their five children, who help with daily tasks. Mijo is also active as the president of the Vukovar-Srijem County Cheesemakers Cluster, which brings together six producers of cow and goat cheese. Their farm was named the best in Croatia in 2017.
