Beekeeper Beekeeping in the Bošković family has a long tradition: Nikola Raguž, with his 450 hives, was the largest beekeeper in Požega and one of the largest in Slavonia. The business was continued by his daughter Anđelka and her husband Ante Bošković. Their son Ivan Bošković now carries on the tradition with his family, although for them it is a secondary activity. Ivan teaches mathematics at Požega High School and devotes time to beekeeping after work. Nevertheless, he has many ideas for improvement and developing new flavours. For years, he produced acacia honey with his parents and brother Vedran, but today their assortment is richer and more modern. Thanks to Ivan, honey with cocoa and hazelnuts resembling popular chocolate spreads - was created, and honey with lemon, turmeric and ginger, as well as with propolis, pollen, and hemp oil, have become major hits. These products are not only tasty but also beneficial for strengthening immunity. In addition to acacia honey, their “classic” range includes floral honey, chestnut honey, and dark forest honeydew. The Bošković family currently has 80 hives, and Ivan’s goal is 200—enough to make a living from beekeeping and honey production.
