All the flavours of Zagreb

The Zagreb Tourist Board has launched the digital platform Delicious Zagreb, which provides an overview of Zagreb 's restaurants, bars, winemakers, confectioners and producers of authentic products. Through recommendations, thematic routes and stories about the local ingredients, Delicious Zagreb offers a guide to the flavours that shape Zagreb's contemporary gastronomic scene, with the help of the famous chefs Ana Ugarković and Vesna Miletić, and the British influencer Paul Bradbury.

“According to the World Food Travel Association (WFTA), 53 percent of holidaymakers actively seek gastronomic experiences, while 81 percent of international tourists want to explore local cuisine, which shows how much gastronomy influences the choice of the destination. In line with these trends, Zagreb is developing a distinctive and diverse gastronomic scene that combines authentic local flavours with contemporary international influences. Taking into account the global trends and local specificities in gastronomy, the Zagreb Tourist Board strategically directs its activities towards strengthening the city's recognition and, through partnerships and projects such as Delicious Zagreb, seeks to further highlight the richness of Zagreb's culinary offer and encourage innovation, professionalism and sustainable development within the local community ,” said Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, while presenting All the flavours of Zagreb, at the press conference in the restaurant Tač.

Global tourism trends show that tourists spend an average of 30 percent of their budget on food and drinks and that the trips dedicated to food, wine and fine drinks are among the most sought-after experiences, while 53 percent of tourists emphasize that they want to eat and drink like a local. When we add to this the fact that 44 percent of the tourists prefer gastronomic experiences based on environmentally friendly and local ingredients, the importance of highlighting local gastronomy is clear. On the platform Delicious Zagreb (deliciouszagreb.hr), visitors will also find the recipes of Vesna Miletić, the chef of the famous restaurant Tač (4 toques Gault&Millau Croatia, Michelin BIB gourmand) who was awarded the Trophy Chef of the Traditional Cuisine 2019 by Gault&Millau Croatia. On the other hand, the platform will show the new gastronomic series “Ana cooks, Zagreb loves ”. In each episode chef Ana Ugarković will explore local ingredients, traditional recipes and give a contemporary interpretation of Zagreb cuisine.

“Zagreb has a special gastronomic identity – a blend of tradition, seasonality and urban energy. Through this series, I wanted to show that Zagreb cuisine is not just what is served on the plate, but also the stories of the people, the places and the emotions behind every bite ”, said Ana Ugarković, the author of the series.

On this project, TZGZ also collaborates with the British influencer Paul Bradbury, who through his video stories introduces the international audience to the authentic tastes and unique experiences of the Zagreb gastronomic scene. He presented himself as "a local foreigner who came to Zagreb for a week and stayed for five years "

Rudolf Štefan (Chef of the year 2025 by Gault&Millau Croatia), the owner and the chef of the restaurant Pelegrini in Šibenik (4 toques G&M and 1 Michelin*), who builds his creative gastronomic story on highlighting local ingredients, welcomed the platform Delicious Zagreb. The importance of joint action between the professionals and tourism institutions was also emphasized by Franz Letica, President of the Zagreb Catering Association: “The gastronomy of Zagreb has been experiencing a strong upswing in recent years, which is why I believe that by working together, exchanging knowledge and constantly investing in quality, we can further strengthen Zagreb 's reputation as a destination that will be remembered for its taste and experience. Cooperation between restaurateurs, the tourist community and talented professionals means not only promotion, but also the creation of a common vision – a vision of a city that lives from its people, its food and its culture .”
